- Salt corrosion on Viking swing gate hinges. The G-5 series swing arms hold up fine, but the factory hinge pins on older Viking gates are bare steel. Four hundred yards from the water, that’s a two-year lifespan before they squeal and bind. We swap in sealed stainless pins and ream the hinge knuckles, and the gate swings quiet for years.
- Viking EMX photo eyes tripping for no reason. Malibu sun angles are brutal on reflector-style photo eyes. When the sun hits the reflector square at 4 p.m., the gate thinks something’s in the way and refuses to close. We re-aim them, add sun shields, and hardwire around the reflector where code allows.
